Regional Manager – North America
Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA)
Prior to joining MLA, Stephen Edwards was a full-time chef for 26 years. In the mid-1980s, he traveled to Europe and worked in London, Greece and Austria. He also worked in a huge array of foodservice outlets around Australia, including fine dining, ski resorts and large-scale corporate catering in the corporate boxes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. In addition, Stephen owned and operated his own restaurants in the Adelaide Hills towns of Hahndorf and Mt. Barker.
In 2001, Stephen retired from restaurant cooking and started with MLA as a Meat Standards Australia (MSA) rep, then went on to Business Development Manager/State Manager for South Australia & Northern Territories.
In July 2008, Stephen took up the post of Business Development Manager for MLA in the U.S. office and has since been promoted to Regional Manager – North America. Today, he develops and oversees all marketing programs for MLA, and works with Australian and U.S. governments on market access issues for Australian Red Meat.
MLA is a producer-funded organization that promotes the growth and development of the red meat industry, both domestically and in many of our trading partner countries. We work with meat retailers, wholesalers, nutritionists and chefs to raise the profile of red meat and encourage people to incorporate red meat into a healthy diet.
